Charan Samtani ( @sarcasticsamtani ) completed. a year of running last week. He says “Its been a year since i had my first run. There was no particular reason to why i first started running. This day last year, I just felt like running. Turned out to be the best decision i ever made. It gave me a great heart, stamina, confidence, hope, patience, happiness. It taught me that God has given us a body that is capable of doing anything if we work hard. I discovered that mumbai roads have more than just potholes. It is a whole new world out there. Its been just a year, there are many more to come”

Anton Krupicka, an American ultra runner is known for his long hair and beard as well as his minimalist approach. He often runs without a shirt and with very lightweight minimal running shoes. He ran his first marathon when he was twelve. During college and in his early 20s he often ran upwards of 200 miles a week.

“For the most part, we exist in a numb, dead society. I’m doing my best to be alive and running in the mountains is the best way I’ve found to do that. And because I love the effortlessness that sometimes occurs while cruising down a cushy pine-needle singletrack or even while
grinding up a switchback above tree line. I love how I can run up and into a mountain cirque or over a pass and be completely dwarfed and humbled by the sheer immensity and grandiosity of the landscape and I Love flying down the other side with the breeze in my hair and the gravel in my shoes and the burning in my quads and the branches in my face and then when I’m finally all worn out there’s nothing like
peeling my shoes off and just sitting. Just being at rest. Running
sharpens the focus on life and intensifies the emotions. Is there any better reason to do anything?
